Hartfield House Hostel is surrounded by trees, mountains, and flowing rivers. It shares its space with Highland Cattle, majestic deer, pine martens, badgers and a whole host of wildlife and is just a short walk to the breathtaking Applecross Bay. The building itself, once a hunting lodge, offers comfort, warmth and oodles of space.

Facilities include a dedicated area for yoga, fully equipped gym, a peaceful dining and sitting room with views out over the mountains. There is a kit store and drying room (just in case!), as well as simple but comfy rooms and hot, hot showers. 

Your stay at Hartfield House is fully catered. Please do expect good things. Our chef Debs is a master at producing wholesome meals, using locally sourced ingredients. Healthy, delicious and the starting point for all of our retreats.   

There will be tea and cake each afternoon, which is always a great time to chat or just reflect on the day's activity.

We love food here in Applecross, and  we are lucky enough to be able to source fresh fruit and vegetables from our allotments and crofts and lamb, seafood and occasionally venison.  Where we can, we will utilise these in our menus', whilst also using other suppliers from the northern Highlands.

The weather here is often on the cooler, wilder side, so we feel it is of great importance to offer healthy, home cooked food that will be warming and filling after a busy active day hiking, running and swimming.

So expect some lasagnes, Indian feasts, mexican food, lamb hotpots,

smoked salmon, wholegrain warm salads, quiches, potatoes from the croft, lemon meringue pies, wholemeal bread and great cakes.

Our aim and desire is to nurture you with healthy food that is nutritious and balanced and tastes great!

There will always be a vegetarian option  and if you have any specific requirements we will do our best to cater to them.

Breakfast will be a buffet style, help yourself.

Lunch will be a pack up, with homemade soup, a sarnie or quiche, with fruit and hot drinks.

Dinner will be a three course meal.  You will not go hungry!  We want you to go to sleep on a night, tired, full and happy.  We want meal times to be a coming together to chat. laugh and eat good food, that fills your belly and nourishes your soul.

If the tides are right we will show you some of the great edible seaweeds that grow here and there will be Miso soup with local seaweed served at some point over the weekend.
